The Pastor's wife

Chapter one: The Honorable Man

Just a few days before the end of I was having a conversation with a man God, a friend, an honorable colleague that I respect so much. As we shared our Kingdom exploits for 2019, He told me about the 3 spiritual targets he had met in 2019. 1. He had managed to do 40 days fast on only vegetables and fruit. What? Not a drop meat…no chicken or ka pork or some goat meat? Nothing. Not even bread. Just vegetables and fruits. Like Daniel and his three colleagues in the book of Daniel. And just as they had come out of their 30 days looking more groomed and energetic than their other colleagues feeding on meat prepared from the Kind’s palace, this honorable man, standing in front of me, telling me about his 40 days on fruit and greens was looking as study and his skin was glowing. Mind, this is a grandfather with his youngest child, already started casting out the demon of late marriage.  Anyway, back to the three targets. So 40 days on fruit and vegies was one. The other was an Esther fast. For you my friends not acquainted with Kingdom lingual, an Esther fast is where you go on a dry (no food or drink) fast for three days (and nights), never mind Ramadhan where one wakes up in the wee hours of the morning and stuffs oneself with the heaviest of carbohydrate materials, that even if one was not fasting, one would probably not want to get eat anything through the whole day, as the enzymes or whatever other creatures in our stomachs responsible for our digestion and breaking of food would still be running up and down  crunching away on the great mounds of carbs till evening before they realise it’s  time we humans are breaking the fast once again, just as they get a few minutes to mop their tired brows and start running up and down all over again. I do not mind that kind of fasting. Actually I believe Ramadhan would be a piece of cake for me. Literally. It sure would make me fatter with all feasting.  Now the Esther fast I  mean is  the fasting of eating your supper at probably 8:00pm or latest 10:00pm of your usual matooke and rice and g.nuts (or may peas, or beef left over if its Monday and you have left over from Sunday sumptuous lunch), and you go to sleep and then you wake up in the morning, prepare for work, or for whatever you do during the day, and say dear Lord, Dear Holy spirit, I start my three day journey of fasting, here and now and for the next three days, morning to evening to next morning etc, you do not eat anything or drink anything till the evening of the third day, with  some more resilient children of God, pushing it to the fourth day. Now, that is Esther fast. Long time ago, in the O.T..(sorry Old Testament) the beautiful Queen Esther asked her people including breastfeeding women and children  (meaning including men of course) to eat and drink nothing for three days while they prayed for God to give her favor as she was  determining to approach her husband and also her king, uninvited. They had to fast and pray for three days because of the gravity of the deed she was about to do…approaching the king uninvited was punishable by beheading, especially if the king was displeased to see you. Now for the wife/Queen who knew that her husband the king was given to many other young concubines, and perhaps she could approach at wrong time, when, as become polygamous men, her husband was wont to smitten with a young babe (brought in a gift from a neighboring king) and therefore not wont to see his wife or nor wont to reveal his wicked exploits to his beloved queen (or to put it in daily terms not to be caught cheating) or you never know it could be a bad time when the kings’ army had just encountered a fierce battle with some generals and has been walloped, and probably  the kings generals killed) trust me, with out an invitation, Esther , ahem Queen Esther knew she could approach the king at a wrong time and she could lose her head, and hence the three day fasting requirement of her people, the Jews to him she was risking her life to save, that when she approached her husband’s throne room, he would be happy to see her and she would keep her head. And the three-day fasting worked, for Queen Esther …far more than even just being warmly welcomed by her husband to seeing her enemies defeated. You know this story, in the book of Esther right? But I am digressing again. I was merely explaining the origin of the term Esther fast and look where I ended up…wanting to rebuke you for not reading such an interesting story in  your bible. Anyhow, so this honorable man…I think I will use H.M from now on, just to save space and time, so this HM told me that after the 40 days on vegetables and fruits, he had also done an Esther fast. Whew. This guy!. But then again, the three day fast cannot be that hard to do if one can (faithfully) complete the 40 days on dodo and guavas. So, yes, he had also finished his Esther fast. I am still thinking, why does he even need an Esther fast? He really has no enemies or grave needs like Esther had, or like the rest of us wanainchi do. He is married, all children but two youngest married, posh house, posh vehicles (note the s on vehicle), a godly, faithful prayerful wife, wealth and richest, and very anointed in prayer and faith and even recently in 2020, I had a friend mention that this H.M is the most humble person he knows…just to add on his many honorableness…
